One way I have fixed the cracking problem on showers and tubs is,if possible get under the floor and drill up into the space under the tub/shower and applie minimum expanding foam. use common sense and dont unload a whole can just enough to create a pad under the tub to stop flexing. most when installed have sand or a foam pad installed to alleviate the problem. If the cracks is severe use an epoxy glue that has 2 parts to mix to create a super hard surface.I have found that the glue used in bow building is the best but expensive!!!and do the prep such as cleaning and etching or scratch surface to create "grab" for the epoxy.. I then use a hair dryer to speed the setting up and drying time of the epoxy.

Never used Naval Jelly, but you can always use glaze to refinish your tub if it needs to be. If you have alot of rust etc... HD and Lowe's sell the stuff, pretty easy to do, the fumes are kind of rough, and they advise to have the room at a certain temperature, so the glazing can cure correctly.Hope this helps in anyway.

Silicone caulk will stop it from leaking for a while. The problem lies in why the cracks are happening. It sounds like it is not supported properly and is "shifting/flexing" which causes the cracks.

There are some nearly correct answers already. You have to remove all old caulk, even if you put it up last week.

You can do that (if it is a caulk and not a dry compound that you have put in) by being very careful and not scratching your tub. A razor blade paint scraper will do it, just do not glitch your tub.

Let all of that dry out. Fill the tub with water all the way up. Then sit on the edge of the tub with your footies in the water and recaulk. Do not use the tub for 72 hours, leaving the water in the tub. After the caulk has had time to cure (supposing you are using a special tub and tile silicone caulk), drain the water and it should stay sealed.

Trust me, it will occur in time again. Houses never stop settling.
