I have a few tiny nicks around the drain flange that are forming rust. Do I need to completely sand those down to metal or just get them dry and paint them with my porc-a-fix paint?

if the nick goes all the way to the metal the I would sand the metal a bit and using a porcelain touch up kit fill the hole…many coats will be needed to fill if if its deep…..if the first coat is to light then what I do is add a drop or 2 of black paint so I can match the tubs color ( I just use those small bottles of model paint , the kind of paint used to paint model cars ) one coat is not going to fill the nick and if u add 2 much then it will run….use thin coats ( may take 4 or 5 coats to fill
